The Spirit of San Francisco is a service committee as described in the 9th Tradition:
(A.A., as such, ought never be organized; but we may create service boards or committees directly responsible to those they serve) The committee is open to all AAs and Al-Anons who are interested in this annual event. The core is comprised of volunteers who serve a one year commitment. They act as officers and chairpersons to perform the functions necessary to plan and host the Convention and other events throughout the year. Our leaders are but trusted servants. Group conscience is our guide.
